Time to convince the husband

Sat, Nov 13, 2010 at 2:21 PM By: katwel

OK this morning I asked my hubby if he fancied a holiday at America next year (nudge, nudge, wink, wink), he isn't against it but needs convincing. I need to find something that will keep his interest - he likes the Movers but isn't in the same league as me and Aaron! Thinking Richmond might be a good option, looks pretty and seems like there's some outdoorsy stuff to do which would keep him happy - plus I see there's a Busch Gardens in Williamsburg - is that close by? Might be a bit grown up for a 2 year old though? Any comments or advice?

Or Orlando... Universal Studios, Disney World AND direct flights on at least Virgin!

Agreeing with NYC- you could easily fly any of the US carriers non-stop, but I'd personally go with Virgin or BA. I'd come on down from upstate to meet you in the city.

Not sure how close Busch Gardens is to Richmond, but there is also Colonial Williamsburg in the Busch Gardens area. Both are so much fun. And you can always go on the basis of convincing DH that you want to see how the British settled the US ;)

I like all the suggestions, Hershey and Richmond sound good but looking for a direct flight, and short transfer time really. It would be my son's first time on a plane so don't want to make him have to go through lots of extra travelling after such a long flight.
Think a phone call to a travel agent is in order to see what they can dig up for me!
My husband would want things for our son to enjoy (he's only 2) and something for him - outdoors stuff, things of interest etc...
Thanks for all your comments so far - I never realised trying to get to the States would be so confusing!

I really hope this tour will come through for you. Selfishly, I'd say come to Cleveland (ok, or Akron or Columbus) but there really isn't much to do out here. Richmond would be fun (gotta see the Mama in residence there) but NYC would be a trip with sooooo much to do. When we were there in September, Brian and Liv had a blast hanging out and seeing the sights (some free, some not so much) -- but the hubby would enjoy walking around Central Park, and, well, there is so much to do. And so many Mamas will be there. Wonder if one more will try to make it... :-)

    Keep us posted!

I might go farther north to Hershey. Hershey Park is awesome and will entertain all of you. Plus if you are chocolate fans you get free chocolate on a lot of the tours.
